maldivian sunsets | photo diary

photos by Mila and me

Here goes... the chaos of pictures from the Maldives. I never thought living on water was even possible, and seeing baby sharks(!), turtles and a ton of rainbow coloured fish any time you step on a jetty and look down at the water. I gravitated mostly towards a variety of 'lazy' dresses or whatever else was still applicable for the baby bump (even though you probably can't tell from most of the pictures). 'No shoes' policy has really grown on me towards the end of the stay, especially taking into account my purposeful packing of only two pairs of flip-flops, outweighed by Fabianas for blogging activities mostly. I had to wear them once for a shoot, but these were promptly removed in favour of my toes feeling the sand. The most incredible sensation to last for an entire week. Slip dresses, as an experiment only lasted for that particular trip. I doubt I can pull one off the moment, as these things are becoming a tad too tight. But anything in a baby doll format was definitely welcome. I used to have quite a bit of those growing up, so it definitely felt like coming home, when I was scouring Zara, Topshop and Asos for a variety of applicable versions. But to highlight the obvious, Maldives spoiled me with some of the most breathtaking sunsets, taking pink, blue, purple and orange skies to a whole new level, textured with palm trees and wild life of a tiny island, making it possible to get the best sunlight at any time of the day. Walkability advantages.

For brands I was wearing things can mostly be narrowed down to: Asos, Topshop, Friend of Mine, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Marysia Swim, Chloé, Zara, Scotch & Soda, Equipment, HM, Dolce Vita, YSL, Gucci, LV, TFNC London, True Decadence

Just leave a comment below for specifics.

  3. @vivalablonda

I use the one pictured above with a bunch of other random things. It's Fujifilm Instax Mini 8. Not the best out there, but if you just want some basic polaroids for fun, it does the job))

  6. Baby sharks must be sooo cute, and seriously I've looooooonged to go to Maldives, but spent all my travel money on clothes (damn you celine), but this is pretty much exactly how I'd love to spend a holiday. Even the brands/types of clothes you wore were so innately Vasilieva that the aesthetics you took with you literally translated so well to the Maldivian weather. I'm #WellJel! <3 Gorgeous hun, simply gorgeous Elena.

By the way, Ithink you should check out my provoking paris fashion week outfit I wore to the Céline show, it features PRADA SS14 feather earring, CARVEN satin printed finale runway coat, and some seriously provocative Phillip Lim patchwork denim jeans that everyone LOVES! You'd guarantee to luuuurve it too! <3
