Welcome to the 'best kept secret'... the Apartment. The one place that made me feel the most at home away from home. The loft occupies two upper floors of the Graanmarkt 13 building in the heart of Antwerp, which houses an exquisitely curated selection of clothing, footwear, accessories and collectables at the Store and a Restaurant at the lower level where seasonal and local produce is served twice daily as prepared by Seppe Nobels. We spent a night at the Apartment last week (thank you for the warmest welcome Tim and Ilse), but I can still hear the birds sing outside the window of the master bedroom as dawn broke. It is the most serene, no nonsense and so carefully thought through place designed by Vincent Van Duysen where every detail tells a story. The story of endless life of objects unburdened by trends or fashion. There are emotions and feelings entangled into an art of living in the moment, without dwelling too much on the past or thinking too far ahead into the future. It's all about the now, yet being surrounded by elements that know no time.
We wondered around between the two floors documenting pretty much anything we were up to from the evening before up until about late morning the next day. I wore pieces from the Store, which so organically translated with my personal style. The kind of garments I could keep in my wardrobe forever...
