It’s that time of year again! Every year, Pantone releases a new color forecast for the upcoming season. The colors are based on a variety of factors including cultural influences and the current economic climate. We take a look back at each of their forecasts from 2016 to 2018 to see which colors they predicted would make an impact in fashion trends this season.
The first color released by Pantone was Living Coral in 2017. This is an optimistic tone with undertones of excitement and joy, perfect for the beginning months of the New Year when many people are setting goals for themselves or starting fresh after completing their resolutions. It’s predicted to be a hot trend again this coming spring!

Living Coral is followed by Pantone’s 2017 color of the year, Ultra Violet. While it may be vivid and bright, this vibrant tone was chosen to capture our connection to imagination since there are so many possibilities for its use in fashion trends.
A close runner-up in 2018 was Emerald Green which has been used traditionally as a symbol of renewal and growth. Pantone noted that this color has been growing in popularity over the past few years, so it’s likely to see even more use during the 2019 spring season.

Another hot trend predicted by Pantone for fall 2018 was Blue Iris, an elegant shade of blue which is said to embody creativity and confidence. This hue can be used in a variety of ways and can even replace black as the go-to color for formal wear.
With these colors representing our hopes, dreams and aspirations, it’s no wonder that people around the world embrace them with open arms each year! Which trend has been your favorite so far?
